Suuban Center for Health System Strengthening’s Leadership in Developing the NSOAP 2023-2030.

In 2023, with the support of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Suuban Center for Health System Strengthening (CHSS) achieved a landmark success by spearheading the development of the National Surgical, Obstetric, and Anesthesia Plan (NSOAP) 2023-2030 for Somaliland. This strategic initiative marks a pivotal moment in the advancement of healthcare services, specifically targeting improvements in surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia care across the country.

Suuban CHSS played a central role in this transformative project by conducting a thorough baseline assessment of the existing healthcare infrastructure. Their team meticulously evaluated 55 health facilities throughout Somalia, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state of surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia services. This assessment was crucial in identifying gaps, understanding existing challenges, and setting a clear foundation for the development of effective, evidence-based strategies.

The baseline data generated by Suuban CHSS is not only comprehensive but also serves as a critical reference point for monitoring progress and measuring the impact of future interventions. Our capacity to produce detailed national baseline data underscores our expertise and leadership in health system strengthening.
